Focus and Scope
Entreciencias is a scientific, multidisciplinary, open-access journal that has been published continuously since January 2020. It is edited and disseminated by the León unit of the UNAM’s (National Autonomous University of Mexico) Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores . The journal publishes articles that result from advances in empirical research or theoretical and methodological reflections, as well as critical reviews.
Its objective is to disseminate original and high-quality contributions that support the advancement of knowledge in the relevant area or provide elements for solving current relevant problems. The contributions received are evaluated by the Editors, and if they align with the journal's focus, they undergo a strict peer-review process under the "double-blind" modality. This process involves evaluation by specialists in the field with recognized international prestige.
Thematic Areas of Entreciencias
Entreciencias organizes its content into three main thematic areas and a section dedicated to critical reviews, designed to encompass various scientific disciplines and promote an interdisciplinary approach. Below is a brief description:
1. Health, Biological, and Chemical Sciences
This section includes interdisciplinary and advanced research that enhances knowledge in areas such as:
Biomedicine: Clinical research, pharmacology, genetics, and medical biotechnology.
Biological Sciences: Ecology, cellular and molecular biology, microbiology, and bioinformatics.
Chemical Sciences: Organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, materials chemistry, and drug design.
Public Health
Priority is given to studies presenting innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to global health challenges, sustainable development, and advancements in biomedical technology.
2. Exact Sciences and Engineering
This section welcomes articles on fundamental discoveries, technological applications, and engineering developments, including:
Applied Mathematics: Numerical analysis, optimization, and mathematical modeling.
Physics and Materials Science: Nanotechnology, photonics, superconductors, and quantum dynamics.
Engineering: Robotics, artificial intelligence, civil and energy engineering, advanced design, and manufacturing.
This section seeks research that integrates high-impact scientific and technological solutions to address global challenges.
3. Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts
This section prioritizes studies that contribute to critical understanding and social transformation in:
Social Sciences: Sociology, economics, public policy, urban studies, international relations, anthropology, law and legal studies, political science, communication, education, psychology, and demography.
Humanities: Philosophy, history, literary studies, cultural analysis, and linguistics.
Arts: Art theory, interdisciplinary art studies, and music.
Interdisciplinary research that addresses contemporary issues and proposes sustainable solutions is encouraged.
4. Critical Reviews
The Critical Reviews section is dedicated to detailed and reflective evaluations of books, articles, or academic works that are relevant and recently published (within the last two years) across various fields of knowledge. Submissions should not exceed 1,500 words and must adhere to high standards of analysis and academic rigor.
Each review must:
Contextualize the contribution of the reviewed work within its field, using additional sources to provide a well-founded and comprehensive perspective.
Provide a critical analysis that highlights the strengths, limitations, and contributions of the reviewed work.
Identify emerging research trends, emphasizing the gaps that the work either addresses or leaves open in its field.
Propose future research directions based on the findings and conclusions of the reviewed work.
References for the reviewed manuscript and any additional sources must comply with the Entreciencias Reference Manual, ensuring consistency with the journal’s editorial policies.
This section aims to foster academic dialogue and contribute to knowledge development through well-reasoned and in-depth reflections on the reviewed works. It also seeks to highlight significant contributions and promote critical thinking about existing knowledge.
