THE POLITICIZATION OF THE FEMININE IN THE FILM DESERT FLOWER

Abstract
This paper aims to offer a political reading of the film Desert flower through the notion of disagreement offered by Jacques
Rancière, understood as a specific type of speech situation that allows us to identify in the narrative of this film with a pair of interlocutors whom they understand. However, at the same time, they do not understand what the other says, one obvious and the other hidden, among those who understand female genital cutting as an unjustifiable and violent practice against women and among those who understand it as a tradition and social obligation.
