Teacher training preschool: a field that excludes men in Mexico City

Abstract
In this research, the perceptions of university teachers and students are analyzed in relation to teacher training from the gender perspective. A Qualitative method was employed with a descriptive approach using semi-structured interviews. Some of the topics yield from these interviews were analyzed in order to discover possible causes of: very little male population in that school, gender differences in teacher training, performance of women and men in preschool education and what were the perspective that they have about the majority female population in that institution. The findings revealed that the prevailing ideology among the participating community relates to the thoughts and cultural patterns of a society that has been commissioned to infiltrate from generation to generation an identity that determines the academic and job expectations based on sex of individuals; thereby symbolically gender have shaped spaces vocational training and exercise.
