The formative evaluation, as a way for improving the students level of achievement

Abstract
This paper investigates the effect of formative evaluation procedures on level of achievement and how they are applied to improve the students learning. To this end, it used Cohen´s d to show how the formative evaluation affected students´post scores on a test, where the differences in treatment group before and after applying the formative evaluation and the differences between control and treatment groups are compared. The data used were taken from tests of processes and cicles thermodynamics conducted to groups of the first chemical engineering courses to compare pre/posttest with control group. From the observed results, it can be concluded that the formative evaluation significantly increased estudents´school achievement compared to the control group.
