Abstract

A didactic sheet is presented based on the reading comprehension of the reference article on the 2022 chemistry prize on click chemistry. The strategy to support teachers in the dissemination of knowledge of the technology that applied to biological contexts is the basis of what is known as bioorthogonal chemistry, of great relevance in more efficient and specific biochemical and pharmacological syntheses, is presented. The activity consists of a questionnaire (ideally applied through Google Forms, to have statistical data on the responses immediately) aimed at middle school, high school or university students. This is done in a context that allows, depending on the course unit or topic of study, to introduce and review examples of cutting-edge concepts, models, and methodologies in fields ranging from organic chemistry to molecular biology. Likewise, the history of the discovery of the system, the development of the technology for its applications and the Nobel Prize awarded to the three researchers involved constitute a perfect context to invite reflection on the collaborative nature of science and the border between what is so-called basic sciences and applied sciences.
